  • When to Consider Consultation

Educational consultation is a good fit if you’re feeling unsure about your child’s school supports, preparing for or debriefing an IEP or 504 meeting, or want to better understand evaluation results. It’s also helpful if you’re looking for practical strategies and clear questions to bring to your child’s school team so you can advocate with confidence.

 FAQs

  • No. Consultations are educational and advisory in nature. The goal is to equip you with the knowledge, strategies, and questions you need to feel confident and prepared to advocate for your child during school meetings.

  • In most cases, consultations are one-on-one with parents so the focus stays on educating and empowering you to advocate for your child. For older students, it can sometimes be helpful for them to join part of a session to learn about their plan, needs, and support options.

  • To make the most of our time together, it’s helpful to share relevant documents such as evaluations, IEPs, 504 plans, or progress reports. Reviewing these materials in advance allows us to focus on what matters most for your child.
